Ingredient Notes, Substitutions & Additions
Greens: Mixed greens are my favorite but baby spinach is a classic choice. Arugula is also yummy–or, use a combo of all three!
Cheese: Feta and goat cheese also go well on this salad.
Nuts: Any type of nut is great in this salad for a little crunch! I love toasted almonds, cashews, and candied walnuts.
Protein: I typically serve this salad alongside a protein but adding grilled chicken right into the salad would also be delish!
Fruit: Feel free to add more fresh, seasonal fruit to this salad! Strawberries, blackberries, and avocado are perfect additions. Dried fruit, such as dried cranberries, can also bring a little sweetness.
Expert Tips
- Storage: You can keep the undressed salad in the fridge for 3-4 days. Store any leftovers in an airtight container.
- Make ahead tip: You can make this salad a few days ahead of time and have it for meal prep. Just store the dressing and the salad separately to ensure freshness.
- How to serve: This easy blueberry salad is a great dinner side salad and goes perfectly with chicken, fish, and steak.
- Dressing consistency: Start by adding 2 tbsp. of milk to the dressing. Splash in a bit more if you like a thinner dressing.
