Ingredient Notes, Substitutions & Additions
Greens: The original Chick-fil-A Market Salad is a mix of mostly romaine and some other “greens.” I like using a mix of romaine and spinach but a container of mixed greens works great, too.
Chicken: Of course, grilling your chicken is always the tastiest option, but if you want to whip this salad up quickly, you can cook your chicken breasts in a pan, use rotisserie chicken, or opt for pre-cooked grilled chicken strips.
Cheese: The original Chick-fil-A salad has blue cheese, but I know lots of people are big fans of feta and it works wonderfully in this salad, too!
Apples: A tart Granny Smith apple balances out the sweetness of the strawberries and blueberries, but use whatever you have on hand! I’ve noticed Chick-fil-A changes up their apples from time to time.
Expert Tips
- Make ahead tip: This salad is perfect for meal preps! Store 3-4 portions in an airtight container with the dressing on the side. The salad keeps well in the fridge for about 3 days.
- Mix up the dressings: Chick-fil-A always gives you a choice of dressing, but I personally think the apple cider vinaigrette works the best with the flavors in this salad. Other good options are this creamy lemon poppyseed dressing, or this easy citrus vinaigrette.
- Use leftover grilled chicken: If you’re grilling chicken, grill up a few more chicken breasts to use in this salad.
How to serve
Bread or Rolls: A toasted piece of crusty garlic bread or soft homemade dinner rolls are the perfect complement.
Soup: I can never resist a soup + salad combo! A light soup like this chicken noodle soup or this vegetable soup would be a great pairing.
Sweet Potato Fries: If you’re like me, sometimes light, healthy salads need a little carb-action on the side! Keep in on the healthy’ish side with a few sweet potato fries!
